DB ( Dumbbell ) Type Silicon Carbide
Compared to other heating elements, the silicon carbide (SiC)
heating element stands out for several reasons. Its non-metallic
construction makes it more resistant to corrosion and oxidation
than metallic heating elements. The ultra pure green hexagonal
silicon carbide material provides superior thermal properties,
allowing for operation at high temperatures and a long service
life.
In contrast to the earlier dumbbell shaped components with enlarged
cold ends, the modern non dumbbell or ED type components offer a
more compact and efficient design. The oversized cold ends of the
earlier design were necessary due to limitations in materials and
technology. However, with advancements in manufacturing processes
and the development of new materials, the need for such large cold
ends has been eliminated.
The non dumbbell or ED type components also have lower electrical
resistivity, which results in more efficient energy transfer and
reduced power consumption. This makes them a more environmentally
friendly and cost-effective option.
